In Canada and other developed nations, it’s not always clear how much harder it is for young girls to gain access to an education, and how dangerous it is when they can’t. This ad is a uses the gutter of the magazine’s spread and a tip-in to show how easy it is for these girls to slip away unnoticed, and how important it is that they receive the help they need.

Ads wouldn’t normally acknowledge the gutter, which makes this print experience more immersive, as both the headline and girl appear to be slipping inward.
